The Technische Hilfswerk (THW) is the volunteer-based operational civil protection organisation of the Federal Republic of Germany and is situated within the portfolio of the Federal Ministry of the Interior. The THW pursues a legal mandate outlined in the THW Act, including tasks such as providing technical assistance for civil protection, foreign deployments on behalf of the German Government, and local hazard prevention.
