Participation
There is a wide and diverse range of opportunities to participate in the Technische Hilfswerk (THW). These could be volunteering, working full-time, a Federal Volunteer placement, or even as a child in THW Youth. Here you can find an overview of these different aspects of the THW.
Volunteers
A willingness to help others, openness and togetherness – these are the defining characteristics of THW members. The THW offers an opportunity to help other people in their hour of need and put skills into action for the benefit of others.
Full-time staff
The paid employees at the Technische Hilfswerk (THW) number more than 2,100. Their work supports the THW operatives as they perform their national and international deployments. The career paths and working areas are both very diverse.
Federal Volunteer Service
Doing good, learning about interesting fields of occupation, and meeting new people: if this appeals to you then working as a Federal Volunteer Service (BFD) at the Technische Hilfswerk (THW) is just the ticket for you.
Support
In order to be able to offer the best possible technical assistance when an emergency occurs, THW operatives need support – from their personal surroundings and from the governmental level.
